About Us

ACMHS, Inc. was founded in 1974 to promote recovery and wellness by providing consumer-driven behavioral health services to the Anchorage area. In 2013, Fairbanks Community Mental Health Services, LLC was established as a subsidiary to serve the Fairbanks region. We serve a wide range of clients with a spectrum of behavioral health needs. Our specialty is serving children with Severe Emotional Disturbance and adults with Serious Mental Illness, with or without co-occurring Substance Use Disorders. Our services are consumer-driven, meaning our consumers are empowered to direct their own care. 

ACMHS/FCMHS serves clients across the span of life. Services provided include integrated mental health assessment, psychiatric evaluation, comprehensive psychiatry, psychiatric rehabilitation, individual, family and group therapy, case management, skill development, vocational, housing, and crisis services.  Little Tykes provides wraparound services for children ages 2-5 to help them manage emotions in preparation for school.  Alaska Youth Advocates and Alaska Seeds of Change serve transition age youth with vocational training, life skills training, outreach and connections to services. RISE assists clients with meeting their vocational objectives. Several specialized teams work with adults coming out of prison or hospitals or transitioning from assisted living homes, providing comprehensive services to help them maintain stability and increase life skills to live in the community.

We currently have a staff of 160, and re actively growing to meet community needs in both Anchorage and Fairbanks.
