The full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works as a member of the medical/nursing team to provide care to a mentally ill population. This position is in a clinic setting with no evening or weekend shifts. Responsibilities include: greeting patients, taking vital signs; phlebotomy skills, collecting pertinent health information and completing screening questionnaires; coordinating timely and efficient patient flow in the Department; completing prior authorizations, laboratory requisitions, and other forms; obtaining patient records; and answering calls and relaying information in a courteous manner. Must be able to think quickly in a crisis and prioritize tasks. Requirements: High School diploma or GED, an Alaska Certified Medical Assistant Certificate, and currently certified in CPR and First Aid. Experience working in an outpatient setting and phlebotomy skills are a plus. Must be comfortable with EMR usage, fast learner of computer programs, and display cultural competency and sensitivity.
