Peer Support Specialist - Peer Support Team

The Peer Support Team provides support to address the needs of individuals who may require frequent additional support in recovery and wellness services, at varying degrees. Our program participants are consistently working with their treatment teams and peer support is initiated when it is decided that they would benefit from additional support regarding their mental illness, traumatic situation, or addiction recovery. A high degree of collaboration is critical for the teams to successfully eliminate participants' concerns when it comes to the intended outcome of services.

Scheduling will vary based on team needs and whether their Peer Support Specialist Position is full- or part- time.

Primary duties include contributing to assessment & service planning, individual & group skill building, crisis management, rehab services, knowledge of resources and an ability to efficiently connect clients, as well as other support services. Knowledge of group dynamics and commitment to client centered work; experience with groups including planning and co-leadership responsibilities. Ability to work as part of a fast-paced, highly structured, collaborative and multidisciplinary team. Team members share roles and responsibility for clients, as needed to provide ongoing support.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Personal life experience in recovery from mental illness, or substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders required. 1-2 years of volunteer experience in the mental health and/or substance abuse fields preferred. A willingness to become Peer Certified as part of your initial onboarding. Comfort in sharing your personal life experiences surrounding recovery in a way that offers support to those you'll serve. Facilitate the development of recovery skills among assigned consumers as a member of the treatment team. Serve as a mentor/role model demonstrating recovery, effective coping skills and self-help strategies. Salary range is $16.56 to $21.44 an hour depending on experience. The full-time position is eligible for our benefits package that includes generous paid time off, health insurance, and 401(k).
